A Celebration of Life: Remembering Henry Morlock

Dear UUFP community,

With a heavy heart, we write to share the very sad news that Henry Morlock, beloved friend and member of our Fellowship, died peacefully, his family with him, on the afternoon of October 25. He had been at Meadowbrook Healthcare, where he had been receiving excellent care and the constant loving companionship of his wife, Ursula Jones.

Henry will be remembered for so much: for his spirit of kindness, of care, of gentleness; for his fervent attention to science and research, including his tenure at SUNY Plattsburgh from 1965-1999; for his devotion to teaching and mentoring, which he carried into our congregational life.

As a devoted Unitarian Universalist, and a member at the UU Fellowship since 1979, Henry cared deeply about keeping the fellowship’s spirit alive: he served on the Board of Trustees for as many terms as were allowed; he sang with gusto in the fellowship’s Christmas Eve choir and Occasional Choir; for many years he led the “Faith Examined” book group, fostering deep conversation around faith and spirituality and building close connections with readers.

Henry will be especially missed and loved by his wife of 43 years, Ursula Jones; his son, William Morlock; his two stepdaughters: Aimee (JJ) Pompi and Sarah Skinner (Kevin Fox); his granddaughter, Maelie Morlock.

Our hearts go out to them, as well as to all those who knew him as neighbor, mentor, educator, and especially: loyal and committed friend. His death leaves a gap in so many lives. It hurts to lose Henry, but he is in peace and love.

A service to celebrate Henry’s life will be held at the UU Fellowship of Plattsburgh on Saturday, November 1, at 10 a.m.

IMPORTANT NOTE: seating capacity at the fellowship is extremely limited.

We encourage you to consider joining the celebration by Zoom.
