CAMP DEMOCRACY
Sat., Sept. 26, from 10 a.m.-noon
4 Palmer St., Plattsburgh
Whether you’ve been working for years to protect democracy or are just beginning to reflect on the stakes after the Supreme Court decision to gut the 1965 Voting Rights Act, we invite you to gather with us at Camp Democracy. You will learn from seasoned community organizers who know what it takes to bend the arc of history toward justice and gain the tactical skills needed to stand firmly and courageously on the side of love. Camp Democracy will also be a chance to restore your spirit, deepen your connections, and form new relationships with people who share your values and your hope for a more just future. Together, we can strengthen one another for the work ahead. All are welcome.
Specifically, we’ll be talking about actions you can take in our work toward early voting actions–think hyper-locally! Actions focused on ensuring every eligible voter has a plan to vote early, knows their options, and is ready to make their voice count at the ballot box.
There will be lots of options for action ideas that folks will offer . . . sign up for something.
SAVE-THE-DCATE
October 17
“No Kings: Vote Early” Day of Action
Details coming soon!
Find an action that fits you. Some with specific dates (Oct 17 No Kings: Vote Early) and some ongoing that will carry you through the entire early voting period (Oct. 24-Nov. 1) on and after Election Day (Nov. 3). Indivisible Plattsburgh’s focus will be on how to take action locally–creating an event or finding events in the works.
All actions include asking people to make a voting plan, to help others make a plan, to commit to voting as early as possible, and helping others get to the polls.
We are activating the choir this midterm season: Repeat the truth through our vetted and reliable community coalition and drown out lies. “Hands Off Our Vote!” and more! We’ll have time for discussion in large and small groups.
At our Indivisible Plattsburgh community-coalition meeting on Sept 26, we are hoping the actions we discuss will encourage you to make a voting plan that you can share with others so that they too can take actionable steps this election period. A major part of your plan will be to incorporate the powerful action of voting early (in person preferred).
In order for us to plan for our meeting on Sept 26, please let us know that you’re coming by completing this form. Tell us whether you’re coming in person or via Zoom.
