Community Meal

Once a month, UUFP hosts the Community Meal at Trinity Episcopal Church in Plattsburgh. This month the meal is on Wednesday, Aug. 17.

UUFP purchases the ingredients for that meal and then prepares and serves the meal. This is a wonderful service that UUFP provides that makes a direct impact on our community — please help if you can. How can you help?

There are a variety of things that go into providing the meal. We need a shopper. Mary Dufort plans the meal  and gets the shopping list to the shopper, who then gets the food and delivers it to the Episcopal Church by 3 – 3:15 p.m.  As you can imagine, there is a lot of preparation that goes into the meal (cleaning and cutting vegetables, opening cans and boxes, getting plates and utensils out and cooking the meal). People who help with this stage of the meal arrive around 3:30 p.m. The meal is served at 5:15 p.m.  Clean-up starts around 5:30 p.m. Any time commitment is welcome. You don’t have to stay for the entire meal and you don’t have to be there from the very beginning.

If you are willing and able to help, please email Mary Dufort at  mmd.slp@charter.net.
