Become a Member
Why begin the journey toward membership with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Plattsburgh?
When you formally join our congregation, you commit to being a full participant, supporting our community and working in partnership for the greater good. You become a part of a community committed to helping you and others in your spiritual journey.
The benefits of membership include:
- The right to vote for resolutions in congregational meetings and in elections.
- The ability to serve as an elected leader, or chair a cluster, committee or team.
- Full participation in the creation of our congregation’s shared future.
What am I committing to when I join?
When you join, you commit to the congregation with your time, talent and treasure. Members make financial commitments to the congregation each year, based on their individual ability to give. In special circumstances, services may be substituted for monetary contribution.
How do I join the church?
Those who are interested in joining should attend a series of two Path to Membership Classes. These describe the benefits of membership, the history of Unitarian Universalism and of the UUFP, the details of our church’s operations, and ways members can connect more deeply. After completing the class, future members sign the membership book and attend a Membership Ceremony, held during a Sunday worship service, to be welcomed by the congregation.
