Our Whole Lives

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Plattsburgh hopes to offer a program designed for students in grades 7-9. The program, Our Whole Lives (OWL), is a sexuality education program explicitly designed for 21st-century youth. Although the OWL series was developed by two progressive religious denominations (Unitarian Universalist and United Church of Christ), the program is secular and free of specific religious doctrine. The program is inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and justice oriented.

The series equips participants with basic knowledge but also has a goal of helping youth feel good about themselves, remain healthy and build positive, equitable relationships. In addition, OWL provides support and information for youth who may be struggling with gender and sexuality issues and prepares peers to provide support and understanding.

The OWL program requires two mature, trained facilitators and is designed for youth ages 10-14. The program is open to members and friends of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, and also to the community at large.

There will be opportunities for parents to meet the facilitators, review the curriculum and have questions answered about process and content.

We look forward to launching this valuable curriculum as soon as we are able. Please share this information with friends and family who may be interested in the program for their children. If appropriate, please provide us with contact information for potentially interested families.

Questions about the program? Interested in the program for your children or for potentially interested families? Reach out to us! We want to hear from you! re@uuplattsburgh.org
