November 18, 2021

Dear Friends,

As we head into our 2022 Stewardship Campaign season, we want to share our gratitude for your connection to the UU Fellowship of Plattsburgh community. Whether you’ve taken part in one of our rich and transformative worship or learning activities, mobilized for community well-being in one of our new justice “squads,” or celebrated at “Breakfast for Dinner on the Beach” this past August, it’s been so good to have you as part of our community.

One thing is clear

This past year and a half has tested us in so many ways. These have been times for asking deeply important questions about who we are, and who we will choose to become in the years ahead. One thing is clear: our institutions, our inner lives – and especially, our planet – are all in need of restoration and healing right now. And so, the purpose of this fellowship is to truly hear one another, open our hearts, and say yes to Love

Investing in capacity and resilience

As many of you know, in early 2021 we met with a financial consultant. Our goal was to explore how best to sustain our long-term capacity and maintain congregational vitality. It was recommended we sell some of our property, with the purpose of converting under-utilized assets into assets that would better position us to adapt to a changing world. Ultimately, we developed a vision for 2022 and beyond that hinges on the following key elements:

  • Continuing to innovate around how we gather, mixing both online and in-person settings for community and connection, on Sundays and throughout the week
  • Funding new models for Religious Education that meet children and families where they are
    ●  Building our capacity to adapt our outreach, and our activities, to the changing nature of church
    ●  Establishing an Endowment Fund + Legacy Giving program, so as to complement annual giving with other ongoing sources of revenue

Your pledge or donation, along with your ongoing gifts of creativity, vision, energy and presence, will allow us to bring this vision to fruition. Our campaign end date is November 30, 2021.

Keeping it simple

This year especially, we’re trying to keep things as simple as possible. If you have an active pledge already, and wish to maintain your current level of giving, you do not need to submit a form: Your pledge is your pledge until you tell us otherwise.

On the other hand, if you are able to increase your pledge, would like to make a first-time pledge or donation, or need to decrease your pledge for 2022, please access our online giving page here. You can also communicate with our treasurer, Ursula Jones:

Want to know more? See our proposed 2022 Budget, or visit our FAQ page. And if you are 72+ and take a Required Minimum Distribution, your donation can reduce your taxes.

And as always, if life is challenging and you need support at this time, please reach out to our minister, Rev. Nicoline.

With deepest gratitude for your ongoing generosity,

Your Stewardship Team:
Ursula Jones, Jerry Bates, Rita Fitzgerald, and Rev. Nicoline Guerrier
