Hiring: Digital Outreach Specialist

Hours of work: Part-time, approximately 8 hours per week. Preference will be given to applicants who reside
locally.

Compensation: $22 per hour, payable bi-weekly.

Overview: The Digital Outreach Specialist will play a key role in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Plattsburgh’s communications and outreach, by managing its communications via social media, weekly e-news briefs, and the congregation’s website. The Digital Outreach Specialist, in collaboration with congregational leaders, will develop and disseminate content in a way that invites participation by people new to Unitarian Universalism, celebrates UU values, and amplifies the vision of a world dedicated and committed to anti-racism, social justice, and radical welcome.

Preference in hiring will be given to non-members of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Plattsburgh.

Responsibilities:

● In collaboration with Staff and the Communications Team, manage and create content for website, e-messaging, and social media platforms
● Monitor website to ensure content is current, timely, and engaging
● Monitor online discussions and, as needed, invite the engagement of staff or lay leaders for appropriate follow up
● Produce and disseminate weekly e-newsletter
● Issue emergency or additional text or e-communications on an as-needed basis
● Monitor social media, e-News, and website health by capturing and analyzing metrics

●Recommend social media channels and new technologies to help the congregation expand
its online community
● Curate image bank and supplement with current photos and short video clips, as needed
● Attend regular meetings with supervisor
● As needed, participate in meetings with staff and lay leaders to promote the importance of
creating online opportunities for engagement

In addition to the regular tasks outlined above, the Digital Outreach Specialist works to meet the occasional needs of the Board of Trustees and the wider UUFP community. The Minister works with the Digital Outreach Specialist to establish work priorities and to balance workload with hours allotted for the position. The Digital Outreach Specialist will be expected to comply with all relevant UUFP policies and procedures.

Requirements:
● Excellent communication abilities
● Experience writing, editing, taking photographs and managing digital communications in a professional setting
● Graphic design aptitude
● Working knowledge of WordPress, G-Suite, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram
● Website management experience
● Demonstrated skill in using digital communications to promote events and increase engagement
● Ability to organize, manage, and carry out multiple projects in an efficient and timely manner
● Willingness to learn new software or office tools as needed
● High degree of self-motivation
● Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a variety of leaders
● Demonstrated ability to communicate values aligned with Unitarian Universalism through social media
